Today I discovered illustrator Rosemary Joy's work, she creates beautiful children's illustrations, and also does some for adults too, although I think I much prefer the beautiful children's ones.
Rosemary is a freelance
illustrator and graphic designer living in Berkhamstead specialising in advertising, editorial,
publishing, children's illustration, greeting's stationery, magazine
design and logo/advert design, phew! She's one talented lady, for more of her work, visit her lovely website, or you can also see her work on Etsy. Perfect for any child's bedroom, or even in a craft room.

If you've read my previous post from last weekend, you will know that I've recently invested in the Hairy Bikers latest book, and this very cold and snowy weekend saw Jason and I make the carrot cake. it's one of the best carrot cakes I've ever tasted, it was so moist, and got better after a couple of days after baking. the only thing that could of possibly improved the cake would be the addition of some walnuts, but then this would inevitably drive up the calorie count.
Definitely one to make again!

The past year has flown by, and I feel I've somewhat neglected my blog in recent months what with one thing and another and the Christmas/New Year festivities. Both Jason and I have vowed that this year will be the year we'll get things done, first on our list is putting plans in place to start our own baking business, and I was lucky enough to receive a bread making day for Christmas (expect a blog post on this at the beginning of February!) so we've made a good start!
We've also vowed to (fingers crossed) move flat and hopefully into a house, or failing that at least a two bedroom flat with a garden, I can then finally have my own craft room/guest bedroom, and we can have a bigger kitchen to make more cakes and other sweet treats, and maybe even be able to get a dog or rabbit.
Another resolution is to be more experimental and eat healthier, so this weekend we decided to make the Tangle pie from the Hairy Dieters book, to make it even healthier we used turkey instead, it was so tasty. The turkey and ham are in a white wine sauce which I've never made or tried before, and I've never really made anything using filo pastry, so a big tick on the trying something new front.

New discovery . . .

I've recently discovered Howkapow, a lovely shop based in Bristol (although I've been doing all of my retail therapy online) they have some beautifully designed things, we've recently invested in these lovely tea towels. We've have every intention of framing them both, however they're a lot bigger than we were expecting and having some trouble finding frames big enough, hopefully we'll find something soon. The cocktail one is to go above Jason's mini bar, whilst the roast dinner one is for the kitchen, in the hop that it might help Jason cook a roast dinner by himself . . .
